Default BBK Cold Air Intake?

Just wondering if this was a good part to add to my car I work at a scrap/junkyard and someone scrapped an 88 LX hatch with no engine or tranny but I found a chrome bbk intake with the maf sensor and everything laying in the car. I just paid $13.70 for it i'm so excited I'm gonna put it on tomorrow or Sat.

yea, its proven to give you good power.

but when i did temp reading on it......... it got kinda crazy.

15 mile drive 90% highway, cool night, about 80degrees out, my FILTER, the freaking filter was 146 degrees! thats hardly a "cold" air intake

ill be replacing mine with the one that go's into the fender soon.

The one I got does have the turn to go into the fender it just doesn't have the plate that attaches to the fender to block the rest of the hole. Are the BBK filters washable or does it just have to be replaced because it looks pretty dirty? Will a regular round filter fit in the fender because that's what I have now on the end of the oem intake rubber tube?

i would say thats a deal considering i gave 160.00 for my bbk. i was sceptical at first with mine but when matched with my bbk 1 5/8 ceramic shorties and decent exhaust. i was blown away by how much it opened up the car. it ran good before, now its even more fun to drive. and yes the filters are washable. plus its a good looking kit.

just go buy the K&N cleaning/oil kit.

thats what i used on my bbk filter........ just make sure after 500miles of cleaning the filter, to clean your MAF and throttle body, as they will be caked with the oil from the filter.

Well I also found a K&N Spray can that is a reddish oil in another car. Is that all I need or is there another product I need to use to clean it? Can I use degreaser to clean?
