throttle sticking at WOT - almost crashed tonight

RE: throttle sticking at WOT - almost crashed tonight
I just wanted to tell my story of stuck throttle, because it happened...today! I have had my 89 LX 5.0 Notch for a few weeks now, and have never had a problem... Today, it was raining, so on the way back from work i was sliding corners and whatnot, but then, once I got onto an extremely narrow two-lane, one way street, of course with heavy traffic (5 P.M.) I took off from a light at quarter throttle, if that, and as I lifted off the throttle... nothing happened, it kept accelerating... in that moment I reflected back to this post... I remember hearing about the problems people had with this, so, I tried to brake, which I knew wouldn't do much... Soon I was coming up to the next intersection with a red-light... I was probably doing 40... nothing crazy, but considering the speed limit was 25, and it is so narrow, I was worried... I tried to tap the throttle a fewtimes to try to knock it off whatever it was hanging up on, but to no prevail... I then put it in neutral and turned the key off as it began revving... This was right before the light, so i tried to hit the brakes, but of course... no power prakes... So I coasted through at a strong 35mph... People looking at me like I was an ***... I pulled over and popped the hood and tinkered with the throttle cable, and saw it pop back into place... So, overall, not as scary as spinning out or anything... but I was afraid for my little stang...

Wow, glad to hear no one got hurt. This seems to be quite a common problem. Hopefully someone can figure this out soon. Best of luck to all with their diagnosis.

im trying to finish up my HCI and i am having this problem also
think you have to get a good angle on the cabe to the botttom of the TB other wise the spring will lock up and throttle will get stuck open

i need to try it out in a parking lot
if it sticks ill try re-routing the cable.
right now the cable is routed high.. meaning it goes over the salt n pepper shakers and basicaly sits near the brake lines then it loops down and hooks onto the tb.
