throttle sticking at WOT - almost crashed tonight
this has happend twice this month. tonight i was leaving work in a rain storm and i was traveling about 40-45 mph when all of a sudden the throttle stuck wide open. obviously the tires spun and the car did a 360 before i could turn it off.
im on a 2 lane road with gaurd rails on both sides. i was in the right lane, car did a 360 and i end up in the left lane and BARELY and i mean BARELY brushed this gaurd rail. almost every car behind me stopped and asked what happend and couldnt believe i manuvared the car like i did.
now to the point.. why is my throttle sticking? i have a summit racing throttle body and my throttle cable is hooked directly to the butterfly (no bracket or cruise cables anymore).
when you open the throttle manually it is very free with normal resistance.
could this be a tps thing? im almost scared to drive it after tonight..

TPS has no gearing in it that will pull open throttle.....push the pedal with the car off a couple dozen times and see if you can reproduce problem......if not for saftey sake I'd replace the cable cause inside the casing the wire may have unraveled and be intermitently catching on the sheath that surrounds cable

My professional products t body did the same thing when I installed it in may BUT it was stuck closed. I was down in VA when it happened. Turned out to be the adjustment screw & nutat the bottom of the throttle body was loose. I just adjusted it with an alan key and wrench to what idle speed I wanted it at. I guess the butterfly was stuck completely shut and rubbing on the inside of the t body.

i did the same thing back in high school. except i was going into the parking lot with a ton of people walking...not cool. did the same three sixty thing in front of my assistant principle. lets just say she didn't believe that it got stuck wot. and i lost my parking permit for it. but anyways i took off the cable and couldn't figure it out either. it wasn't my carpet and it wasn't the cable. so idk what it was but it hasn't happened since
