well i guess i highly underestemated my 5.0 this info kinda makes me feel better about shifting at 6k and blowin her sideways every chance i get. but one thing i do know is the t5 is rated for 300ft/lbs witch is factory so how much do you guys say my 5 speed will hold?
with the factory cam and heads and valvetrain you won't see 6k before it runs out of steam.. you need a top end on that motor built for 6k....my friend had eddy rpm heads and f-cam and roller rockers on the stock bottom end...as for a t-5 it's all how you drive it.. I still have a stock t-5 behing my 347 set up that runs mid 11's and on a previous set up ran 11.34 @ 120 on the bottle with a stock t-5 and no probs.. the key to longevity of the t-5 is not beat it hard and do 5-6 k rpm launches

I launched at 5k with my T5 out of a 96' V6 car, and power shifter at 5200k, my car went 12.43 at 108, i didnt break that tranny until i put a spec clutch and billet steel flywheel in..(Stupid),then broke another tranny within an hour after installing it,so thats why i gotta built c4 in my car....no worries now...oh yea i make 260rwhp, and i know a guy that has a 60mm turbo on stock rods and pistons i think a scat crank though, his car goes 11 teens..and its his daily driver hes making well over 400hp with it if i remember right.

Imo it'd be a lot of work to just gain sound and no real performance upgrade..remmeber with the cam swap you'd need to change out to matching valve springs for the cam on the heads..and Imo you might as well add some better heads then too....but yes a f-cam will work with stock bottom end and stock heads..got it in my 92 but ptv should always be checked irregardless

you can eather build alot of hp and drive it like a car or you can bolt on a few mods make 280-300hp and drive it like a 5.0 mustang cuz thats about how much stock parts can handle and you gotta remeber you talking about 20 year old motors, 280 is pushin it with stock pistons.
Where are you getting your info from?[&:]

as i said i must just be too conservitive when it comes to my dailey driver. sure its fun driving 400hp on the street but when i go for a long trip i dont want to be constantly lookin over the gauges turning the radio down listening to what i scard myself into thinking was rod nock. alls im saying is once you pass the 300hp point its more of a race car than a dailey driver and i know some of you enjoy driving your procharged 800hpstang to work everyday and wouldnt even give a thought towards what im saying but any reasonable person who has gone through the 4000 rpm road trips (3.73s on the highway) knows what im talking about. but im getting off topic! by the way how much will the stock 8.8 hold up to?

When properly built, I don't know of there is an upper power limit to your 8.8" rear end.
I'll bet it'll be more than what any N/A 302 will make.........
