Default Mallory vs. MSD

A while ago I bought an MSD ignition box and there was something wrong with it so I sent it back. I have a new one still in the box that I haven't had achance to re-install yet. I was looking on Summit and saw this Mallory box. Now it has all the stuff my MSD box has, but it's over 100 bucks cheaper. I have heard good things about Mallory but was wondering if it would be worth it to send the MSD unit back and save the 120 bucks and put that toward my MGW? The only thing the MSD has that the Mallory doesn't is a timing retard, but I wouldn't even be using it if I had it, so is it worth it or what?

Dude I just bought the Summit Ignition box with the rev limiter, and there new magnetic dizzy, and to be completely honest iam impressed with the quality of this stuff, and its a whole heck of alot cheaper than MSD. Seems like any more with MSD is your just paying for a name.

I think MSD makes the summit stuff for them. How much did you pay for the summit and is there any kind of warranty with it?

EDIT: after looking at the summit one, it has the same specs as the mallory unit I was looking at for about 20 bucks cheaper.

The Summit box is made by Mallory. I would get the Summit box before the Mallory, just because they are identicle and the Summit box is cheaper. From everything I've read, they are great ignition boxes, especially for the price. The Summit box is also digital, where the MSD 6AL is analog. If you get the Summit box with the rev limiter, it has an adjustable ****, vs the MSD's plug in pills.

Well I have the digital MSD one right now, it cost 312 bucks, so if I return it and get the summit or Mallory I would be saving myself 120-140 bucks, and that could go toward my short throw.

Sounds like a plan!. I have a MSD 6AL, and I'm happy with it, but if I was in the market for a new box, the Summit box would definately be worth considering
