I have a 89 GT,I was told the oil pump went bad does the eng. need to be pulled out to change it?? And does the eng. come out the top or the bottom? thanks Bob

Why do you think that the pump is bad, engine noisy?? Or just reading low on your gauge. Mine was reading low and I replaced the sending unit, after verifiying that the oil psi was good with a mechanicalone,and the gauge is reading correctly now.

engine comes out the top and motor can be jacked up with mounts undone ..drop pan down enough to reach in and undo pick up then pan will be easier to remove or drop k-member down and have easy access to pan

i've got a few oem pumps sitting around if you need one, and a 7 qt canton oil pan/pickup tube/dipstick for sale too.

Thanks guys,I was told by the guy I bought it from that the gauge wentall the way down then he shut it off,he checked oil level and was fine. He says the pump went bad??????????? He started pulling things off the eng. and was going to swap it out for a 90 LX 302 he has on a stand and gave up. Then sold it to me for $500,so I'm up in the air and dont know where to start? do I just swap out motors or try to get this one running again and hope not to do any damage,thanks Bob

Hook up a mechanical guage to it first. make sure its the pump and not the guage or sensor.
