Default Car wont start even with new battery

I had a old battery in to begin with, and that died on its own, so i went an got a new battery from autozone, 675 cca. When ifirst turnthe key it makes a "buzz" sound and it doesnt start, i turn the key again it makes a single "click" sound. I think the new battery is good, the head lights worked and didnt seem to dim. I didnt get a chance to try jumping it becuase of rain. Another possible problem is the positive lead, it has alot of battery acid on it. But would it still allow the headlights to work? as soon as i get the chance im going to try jumping it, then get a new positive lead. Thats all i can think of.
Any help is appriciated!

Def sounds like a connection problem, check and clean them all. If the + lead is bad, start there. It doesn't take much to turn on an accessory but the starter draws a lot of juice.

check all grounds and make sure wires are tight on selonoid connection..and with the lights on try and crank it...if the lights go out completely when held in crank..then you know it's a bad connection somewhere

you'll need a test light... with the key held in the crssnk position you should have 12v on the wire going down to starter..do you??

Its probably your starter solenoid...I just replaced mine when I was having the exact same problem, relatively cheap, I say its the solenoid or starter itself...

if it ran before and you say the connection looks crapy then i can almost garentee its a bad terminal conection cleanit real goodthen take a steak knife and dig the hell out of the terminal and the battery post until you have good clean exposed lead on both ends then tighten her down real good. make sure you do it to both terminals and both posts. for added protection use dielectic grease or terminal grease.
