Can't put my finger on it...and it's driving me nuts!!!
Ok...my last post I was having trouble with my 88 GT. It is running very poorly. There is alot of black smoke coming from the exhaust. While there is decent power when you mash the gas...it stumbles alot. At idle the motor shakes like it has a radical cam in it. And this all started after driving it to work a week ago where it ran fine and then went to go home and it ran like crap. Two days prior a friend told me when I got on it he could smell raw fuel as he drove behind me. I have checked and replaced all the plugs which were covered in black. I replaced the engine coolant temp sensor. I pulled the EGR and made sure it worked. I swapped out the MAP for a known good one. Replaced the ignition control module. Replaced the fuel pressure regulator. All this and no luck. Any suggestions?

sounds like you have an injector that is stuck open a little. pull up all your injectors and turn the key on so the pump primes the lines. look at all the injectors and see which one is leaking.

if an injector were hanging open that one plug would be black and wet with raw fuel..if all are black then it is something that affects the system as a whole not just one injector.....first I'd run a fuel pressure test then maybe a koer test to make sure no codes exist and if it misses / runs rough at idle pull wires one by one until you find a cylinder where pulling the wire doesn't create a load change and that way you can cover all bases and make sure issue is not a misfire

Ok, after chasing down sensor after sensor I finally came across what the problem was. I pulled the EEC out and it smelled burnt. One new computer later and all is fine. And a friend told me to stop running 87 octane in it so I filled up on 93 and the car runs great. I dont know what caused the computer to crap[ out but its good now. Thanks again for all the info.
