400 sounds pretty nice for a street/cruise car you guys prefer fox body or 94-up models? the foxbody has to be a lot lighter overall right?

fox body ftw...and quit worrying about flywheel hp, that means jack!!!!!!! rwhp is what the end result is and for a decent h/c/i 302 build expect 275-300 rwhp

i was looking at some stroker kits that come with a balanced crank, pistons, rods, all bearings, rings, etc. for around a thousand bucks...and when i priced out building a decent 302 it isnt like its a lot cheaper....so why doesn't everybody just build a 347 instead of a 302? it doesn't seem like much more money but yet you get about 100 more horse....

Probably because of planning and/or initial cost. Also there are smog considerations. Some stroker kits are more legal than others, depending on where the car is registered.
If cost, mpg, smog is of no concern - you could look into the 351 based options and dont forget the 460 based options. I would go with either of those before I considered the modular swaps... IMO

well yea you could, but the older 302 block on to set up for a roller cam, but you can always have it drilled out for the spider to hold the lifters and stuff in.
lol, its not that easy. You have to run a reduced base circle cam because the lifter bores are taller on a roller block, and you also have t do some grinding inside the lifer valley so the thing will fit. Trust me, I know because I retrofitted my 72 block with a roller cam. It takes skill and time.

^^^not the best idea!! why...cause with stock lifters in a pre roller block will require the use of a reduced base circle cam = skinny bump stick[:'(].....and to build a 347 yes you use a 302 block ,notch skirts for rod bolt clearance, bore it .030, 3.4 throw on the crank and a 5.4 rod or 5.315 rod best IMO FOR ITAND ANY 85-95 ROLLER 302BLOCK WILL WORK FOR A STROKER....BUT IF YOU PLAN TO build a 302 up watch out for 86 block as pistons are not notched for valve clearance but if your rebuilding a 302 and boring it , none of that will matter as you'll be buying new pistons
This really isn't a problem. The roller cams are billet, and with them being that hard you don't have to worry about it. Plus there is very minimal friction due to the roller lifters, so that takes a lot of pressure off of everything.
