Default stock radiator efficiency

I have a 87 GT... the radiator is stock i do believe.. 3 core.. i have 2 electric fans... 1 pushing 1 pulling... and my car still seems to overheat to like 215.... is anyone else running a stock radiator and keeping cool? I have Trickflow stage 1... trickflow intake and windsor jr heads...9.5 to 1 compression... i know power makes heat...any input?

i have a 95, stock radiator, stock fan, stock cooling. with a 347 and kept plenty cool. had a 195 thermo and the car never got over 200 once. during my dyno tune i'm getting it burnt for my fans to come on sooner, so that'll help too. if i were you'd i'd try a good flush of the coolant and see if that helps.

In my case I put my electric fan on my stock radaitor and it would not keep it cool. So I bought a 4-core out of summit and it works great. I dont even need the fan on the highway, just in slower traffic in town.

stock rad is not 3 core. and why do you have one push fan and one pull fan? i dont understand your set up.

what temp t-stat do you have? does it over heat when driving or at stop lights? it does matter so plz be specific on when it over heats and what your t stat is curently.

thank you finally someone asking the right questions.

the stock rad is plenty efficient with the stock fan too. 215 is not over heating and is normal with a stock rad and t-stat seeing that the stock t-stat is a 195 and will allow the engine to get 10-20* hotter than the t-stat. which electric fans do you have anyway? you only need one fan to cool perfectly fine. how is your water pump? does it have play in the end does it have any traces of coolant coming out of the weep holes?

i have a heavy duty 2 core rad a 180 t-stat and one electric fan from a late 80's early 90's 3.8 toraus on the slow setting and it never sees higher than 165 with the fan on

Some one once advised me to look for a stock Lincoln Mark VIII electric fan, because they pull more air than most $150 aftermarket fans. I looked around, and found several on listed on ebay. Found one for $60 shipped to the house, works absolutely great. You only need to trim a little of the plastic housing (the factory mounting bosses) to fit the mustang.

putting in a lower temp t-stat is the WRONG answer to fixing an overheating problem

160's are bad, don't let the car warm up to normal operating temp. i wouldnt go lower than a 180.
