302 Headers on 351
I know that a 351 needs specific headers to work on a fox but has anyone accually tried to use 302 headers? My mac H pipe comes in 3 pieces so the main tubes of the headers can be adjusted and tweaked a little so I thought maybe I could tweak their position enough to make it work. I don't have the 351 yet but I hope to before I head to Iraq again at the begining of the year. Just getting ideas and thinking of how to save a little money. 351 headers aren't cheap.

RE: 302 Headers on 351
the only reason that the 351 needs special headers in a fox is because of the extra width of the 351 over the 302.
I'm sure that the 302 headers will be hitting the strut towers and will not line up with the mid-pipe. |
RE: 302 Headers on 351
I know thats why they have different headers. They won't hit the towers but midpipes that are all 1 piece I know wouldn't line up. But like I said mine is in 3 pieces. The 2 pipes comming off the headers and then they bolt to the center section where the H comes together. Those that have the MAC or have seen it know what I am getting at. It is tight on the passenger side where the starter is so that would be the harder one. If I got the pipes off enough where they didn't leak at the headers it prolly wouldn't bolt up to the mid section. If no one else has tried I guess I will have to whenever I get my 351 and see how it works.

well if the headers are not swap headers, you are gonna find out the hard way, the 351 will make that passenger side a real nightmare and the driver side will not line up.

Thats fine I was just curious to see if anyone has tried it.
