koeo test problem
to do a self test for codes it says you are supposed to hook the sti to ground but it is as if the sti has constant power so it arcs out on the negative batt terminal.............doesnt make sense

EEC-IV?
on the EEC-IV you jump the STI to pin 2.
If you want to connect a test lamp or volt meter, so you can get the coads from under the hood instead of the engine light, you attach those to the + terminal and probe pin 4. At least...that's how it works on both my Mustang and T-bird EEC-IV systems.

no
and all you have to do is hook the gray connector to ground while the key is off, then go inside the car and turn the key on.
watch your CEL and count the blinks.
(unless you have an 88.. I think thats the year that didnt have a CEL)

RE: koeo test problem
If the STI terminal has 12-vdc all the time...... you are trying to use the wrong terminal. ... DO NOT install a jumper between the SIGRTN terminal at the VIP connector and that wire.... the ECM will fry. Make sure you have the correct wire, not the one (similar to the STI) used for the underhood light (if there was one installed).
