it all depends on how you hammer it off the line....if he has some turbo lag he might be able to do it as it really won't hit hard off the line which is where most breaks will occur...zachwo4stang with 275 rwhp hammered hard on a 4cyl tranny for a long time and didn't break it

i know you can bolt one up but is the gearing that much better? why would he risk using that tranny with 650-700 hp?

if it blows it blows....most 4cyl trannies are geared low in 1st..mine had a 3.94 first gear=useless with 3.73 rear, and when I had it in my 5.0 conversion project for a while it felt more like a road race tranny since all ratios were close together even 5th didn't feel like much of an overdrive with a 5.0 in it

so what could someone do to beef up a 4 cyl. tranny a lil bit to be stronger than a v8 without spending enough money to buy a WC or something like that

rebuilding it doesn't beef it up.......about all you could do is add a steel input retainer and carbon fiber blocker rings......but ratios are unique to 4 popper traanny so no reall gear upgrades to strengthen it....the guy is blowin smoke up your rear if he says it's beefed up!!!
