Default My new car, and the plans

Got my new 86 in the yard a couple days ago, and I've done some tinkering with it, and I've come to find I need rings. So I figure, wtf, I'll make a 331 this winter.

I havn't been around the 5.0 scene in about a year or so, so guys, help me out. Whats the new & exciting HCI products?

i knew that question would come.
moreless just because it is somewhat a daily driver at this point, during the winter i'll buy a beater, but come spring and the conclusion of the job, it will return to daily driver. i dont need that much nut. this car is already stuck to the ground with gorilla glue. a 331 will put me nicely into the very low 13s

if that's all your expecting out of a 331 then you must be thinking of using a **** poor top end......I just did a 347 for a friend and with canfield heads and a Jay allen cam that was designed for his old 302 combo in a 3400 lbs car it ran 12.20 @110 in 95 degree hot humid air[8D]

ok well my thinking is off on the times. all i'm saying is i dont need much. a well running stock motor would be good enough. there is alot of money underneath this car already, and i'm thinking in a mixture of performance, value, and DD economy.

well then just build a well balanced 302 if it still has the 86 flat top pistons two options as you know..switch pistons out or a set of twisted wedge heads and mild cam..I'd think that'd give you the power you seek

Yea, I thought a 331 would run quicker than you're thinking. I assume you'd be doing a H/C/I swap with it too. I don't know, if I were you I'd start saving now and then when you're ready use the saved up money to go all out on a 347 or something of the likes.

I have wondered how a freshened stock '86 would run DD with a blower on it...
even if flat-top they are still forged pistons...[8D]

would SD still function well if just a blower added? I mean to say that if cam and heads and such were changed would not SD cars not idle so well nor make the best DD, Im just thinking here but if only a blower added would it still idle as smooth as stock? [:-]

[:'(]Hmm but now that Im thinking: how does one change up injectors to the next size say 24#/hr or 30#/hr units in SD
