Default Question about E7s and GT-40 Iron heads

there is a little metal thing i have on my stock E7s, its oin both heads, and it was on the firewall side of the heads, with a tube coming off each that was pinched shut

i am guessing this is for emissions

now i have the E7s off cuz i puton some nice GT-40 iron heads, but the car is HARD to start i MUST apply throttle to get it to start, runs like crap and stalls as soon as im not giving it any throttle...

the GT-40s don;t have this little thing on the back, it uses a bolt and goes right on... could that cause this issue im having?

Yes its for the emissions. No you don't need it if you don't have emissions. And no it won't give you issues like hard starting. Sounds like you need to look at you timing or something.

Vacuum leaks, it sounds like.

That tube was the A.I.R. injection tube. Part of the smog pump set-up. I do not have any of it on my 88 either (any more).
