Gas Gauge / Speedometer problem 87 5.0
Hey guys, stang I just bought has a small gas gauge problem. The guy I bought it from replaced fuel pump and sending unit which actually made the fuel gauge work. The problem is though, its off by a little more than a half tank. When full the guage goes about 3/4 inch past F, and when empty it stops on about 1/2 tank. Any tips on how to fix this?
Also speedometer starts way before the zero and is missing the 2 nipples on both sides to stop the pointer. When going about 60mph it says I am going like 120. Any tips on this too?
Also to let you know, the previous owner had put the white face on the guages and the Oil pressure and Water temp guages are not operative on the dash because there is a pod of the left side of windshield that now houses those after market gauges (which work perfectly).
I am assuming that something needs to be adjusted
thanks!

RE: Gas Gauge / Speedometer problem 87 5.0
as far as the speedo goes, i dunno. maybe try foxmustangrestoration.com you might end up needing to get a whole new speedo just to replace those stops.
but the gas gauge is simple, yet time consuming. your gonna have to pull the cluster out and pull the needle off, and place it where it should be. best time to do that would be full tank.
once you get the cluster out, believe it or not the best tool to get the needle off is a fork. yup, a regular dinner fork. do NOT pull it up on an angle. straight up.
