Quick stereo wiring ?
81 mustang Ghia v8 t-top
Could someone tell me which color wires go to what in the stereo system. I am pretty sure they are all there, but the connector is gone, as the previous owner hacked in a stereo which he removed when I got the car

RE: Quick stereo wiring ?
pretty simple.
i dont know the colors, but i'll tell you how to find what you need.
each speaker will have 2 wires, identical colors.
so, you should find 4 sets of 2 wires each, 4 different colors. something like purple, green, blue.
once you find those wires, take a 9v battery like you use in a remote control, and touch 2 of the same color wires to each terminal on the battery. if you have the correct 2 wires for a speaker, the speaker will make little popping noises, like static.
next, black is ground.
then you need 2 power sources. constant, for radio memory and clock, and key on power.
this will involve a test light or a volt meter. lots of times the constant power is yellow, and the key on power is red. sometimes it's switched.
have fun.

unless the previous owner hacked the new harness out of there completely and only stock colors are left, if thats the case then those wires are the most random ones. [&:]
if thats the case i'd say to findconstant power, ign power as in on when the key is on and bolt to a ground and run your own wires if you can run them nicely and hook up a nice set of speakers while you're at it
