A fresh timing chain. This will generally advance the cam back to stock like numbers. Also as said long tube headers.
It's too bad the stroker idea was turned down. For a highway Mustang I've always though a big short block tall geared fox would be an excellent highway cruiser. Anyone who's driven a 5.7L F body will agree with me.
