Default 302 questions

I believe my 302 is nearly stock.. sounds like it has a small cam. I dont know. But my question is when I get on it and its goin fast but then it cuts out a little . The carb looks huge on this thing so i think its getting to much gas. What size carb should be good? And if a put 351 w heads on it what is a good size cam to run along with intake? thanks

Get the list number off the carb. Should be on the front of the carb by the choke plate.
You can find the size here. Unless it's the stock holley.

As for cutting out, when was the last time it had a tuneup? And what year 351w heads are you planning on using?

BTW, your car isnt an automatic is it?

If it's an automatic, then you have CFI not a carb. As for the heads, the only ones that would help would be a set of DOOE's. 1970. Later 351w heads are the same as 302 heads.

c9oe heads are a good choice too as they are the same as d00e heads.........600 cfm should be sufficient for a 302 and cam will depend on head choice

If it sounds like theyres a cam and it cuts out its prolly a vaccuum leak or timing is whacked
