i have an 89 lx 5.0 with bolt ons, and i didn't realize it had a 7.5 until i recently messed up the rear end.

I got an 8.8 from a 5.0 lx fox body at the junkyard. I put it up in there and got the two upper bolts in and then moved to the lower control arms and shocks. thats when i ran into problems...

1. the mounts on the 8.8 rear end for the lower control arms are wider than on the 7.5. So do i get the lower control arms from the mustang at the junkyard or put spacers in?

2. The shocks that were on my car will not fit on the 8.8 rear end... the mounts are too small. Do i get the shocks from the other mustang or do i trim them down..

I dont want to cut anything or put spacers in because I am worried that the rear end will not be perfectly straight and my car will be messed up.

So... trip back to the junkyard?

get the correct parts for that rear do not modify stuff to work

It should just bolt right up. Post some pics if you can. Mustang rears should work up to a 98.
