Alright I've got a question, we put 5 quarts into our motor, but we have an aftermarket dipstick, and it's reading WAY overfilled. Now what I've heard is 5-6 quarts of oil for the 302. So whats a good amount, I know that dipstick has got to be off because there is no way 5 qts is that overfilled. We bought 6 qts, how much should I put in the motor ?

It's 5 quarts. Did you make sure and undo both drain plugs when draining the old oil. It's a double sump oil pan so if you only did one plug there was probably still a quart or two of oil left.

Its the first time the motor has had oil in it if im not mistaken? (well since rebuild)

Yea, we went to the speedshop tonight and they also said just 5, they reccomended pulling the stick, marking where 5 would be and shortening it ?

yea bro get another dip stick should only be 5 quarts with a stock pan.
