Default Exhaust Leak?

I recently posted about a tapping and was advised to check my ehxuast for leaks and it indeed was a leak. I have cracks and missing pieces in my header gaskets. I am about to buy heads and i want to know if its really a big deal to have them leaking for the time being, and what they can hurt? Thank you

Default RE: Exhaust Leak?

if it's efi if the header hasket leaks are large enough it'll skew the o2 reading and simulate a lean condition and fuel mpg may suffer a little....but more often than not you should be fine as long as you fix the prob as soon as possible
