alternative trac lok clutch order
I'm putting new clutches in my rear this weekend and have a question for those using the 3 steel discs and 4 clutches. Is this so tight that your tires will chirp when making normal turns? and where would be the best spot to put the old clutches when you reuse them?

personally you don't need to do that because the kits come with shims of .030, .035 and .040 and you will only be able to get it so thick and still be able to roll in the spider gears....Ijust use the stock confifuration and add a thicker shim for greater preload =.035 shim

oh I thought the alt order was for more posi. I guess i'll just throw in the larger shim like you say! btw, I picked up some 80w90 synthetic gear oil, will this do? thanks, as always.

some do the alternating deal but you have to use some of the oldclutch discsand do it just right so you can roll spider gears back in with just enough space so it's not to tight and not to loose...I just shim it tighter....never had an issue that way.. but either way will work......the alternate way may grip better...but my way has never produced a 1 wheel peal yet

sounds good. what kind of oil did you throw in your diff? I have some 80w90 synthetic stuff, not sure what they used stock. don't want this stuff finding leaks I didn't know I had.

In one of them I put 80w/90 with a bottle of friction modifier and in anothe I have royal purple synthetic with additive in it............stock was 80w/90 with friction modifier

stock was not synthetic and as for cleaning it all out... just drain it out and wipe case out a little and reseal it and add the new fluid.. ne need for to much concern with mixing a little of the two.. which will hardly be any

just finished it today. was going good till i had to put the spring back it. read somewhere to use a hose clamp. so that's what i did and it went right in. took longer to get the hose clamp out then it did to get the spring in. but it was a huge success and just to test it out and i took it a bit sideways, hehe.
