Default Flex fan to clutch fan

When i bought my 90GT it had a flex fan in it, the thing is way to loud and blows leaves out from under my car and you can feel the air hitting you as soon as you open the hood, not sure if its broken or if thats how they all are. Someone has offered to give me their stock clutch fan just wondering what the difference is with them and the flex fan and if it just bolts up like the flex fan to the water pump pully.

Clutch fan has slip in it, a flex fan is solid. They should both bolt in the same way.

They are different.
Clutch fan is attached to a clutch that is attached to the waterpump.
Flex fan is attached to a rod that is attached to the waterpump.

I think the 90's should have a eclectric fan if I'm not mistaken? if so I have no idea why they would opt to put a flax fan in unless there were cooling issues or a different motor like a 351 or 427.

I say you leave the flex fan in. You know how after you mow the lawn, no matter how careful you are, you always end up with grass clippings all over your driveway? It just makes life easier!

Alternately, you could ditch the clutch and the flex fan and the horsepower drain they represent, and convert to an electric fan. I recently did that, and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

just leave the flex in, the clutch will be exactly the same (your description of the fan is almost exactly the same as my stocker

94 was the start of electric fans in stangs
i say just keep what you have why bother with stock? only reason i'd change it would be a electric fan swap

was not a fan of clutch fans before into 5.0's they work pretty well even on the much abused ssp (though had slightly calibration if im not mistaken)

however even though I now like the clutch fans (only 5.0!!) I changed out to flexalite with built in shroud becasue flex or clutch you still get that airy sound a lot and free up a few hp if upgrade alt which everybody with 5.0 should do !!!!
