Default Thermostat

I know this is an easy question but I tried the search feature and it would not work so I thought i'd ask anyways. What degree thermostat should I get for a stock 85 Mustang GT? Is it 180 or 195?

Stock is a 192* I think, but a lot of the guys here use those or 180*'s.

If you have a choice... try getting the Mr. Gasket High-Flow 180 thermostat... most Napa, Schucks, and Auto-Zones have them, or can order them...

I would never, ever recommend a mr. gasket thermostat. Get a Stant 180 degree thermostat and you'll be happy. That's what i run in my '85 and it works like a charm.

Care to justify that?

Mr. G t-stats are very good, and well respected...

My vote is for the Mr. Gasket High-Flow 180 thermostat. Put them in 2 of my 5.0's.
My 85 I used to have I went 160 degrees (Stant prob.)but it never seemed to warm up in the winter, sure I got heat but the engine was always a little colder than it should have been. Oil carboned up quickly. It was fine in the summer though.
