500 hp NA California Smog Legal Combination?
I have in the past posted on here about building a turbo engine, only to receive criticism that I hould make it supercharged. So, having done some more research, I realized only one thing I forgot. I forgot that I have been living in California for the last 2 years, I used to live in Oklahoma, where almost anything goes smog legal wise. I could do a 3-5k dollar turbo or supercharger kit, but would not reliably be able to run the power I want on my stock block, so I figure, why not go NA and just buy a rock solid block. I admit the sound of a NA build sounds awesome due to the lack of shops locally capable of tuning something with forced indution. So. I do live in a city that only smogs if you sell the car, but I am not going to risk driving around in a car that is not legal. So, I have been checking my options on what to do. I remember in the past that World Castings made an awesomely sweet insanely boreable aluminum block, I was wondering if anyone here has had any success with their man o war blocks and or heads? If it at the very least, post up your 500 hp NA CA smog legal combos. If all else, I will probably just have to go and drop the 5 g's on a new crate engine or longblock from like world castings or coast high. I have to make sure everything is smog legal. i would like to do it right in aluminum, but if I have to I will go iron block. I want to spend a maximum of 5000 on an engine, either turn key or long block that will bolt up to stock components or little modification. Wish me luck!
