fans coming on late?

fans coming on late?
Ever since I bought this car about 6 months ago, I have noticed something peculiar. The cars temperature gauge will start to climb if I am in weather warmer than 70 degrees. It will get all the way up to the "L" of normal...which I do not think is normal. The fan will finally kick in, it will go slightly over the "L" for a minute, then it will go back down to to the middle of normal. What s it that controls the fan that could be doing this? Also, the heater gets super hot. I mean, it will burn your hand hot within 5 minutes of normal driving when its 50 outside. The heater is normal hot within 3 stop lights of my house which is half a mile. Kinda wierd, nice, but wierd. Any ideas?

Yeah. SN95. what the heck is all that gibberish you just said? I feel like I know a lot less about electronic circuitry now than I did before. What is a CCRM and how do I check the low speed circuit...thinking Im just going to take it to mechanic.

the coolant temp sensor sends a signal to the CCRM unit. when that signal reaches a certain point, the CCRM should activate the low speed circuit and the fan should kick on. somewhere around 180-190 degrees.

The stock 94-95 GT fan is a two speed unit. Low speed comes on at ~208°F. High speed comes on at ~228°F. There are two cooling fan relays on the CCRM, the LFC (Low Fan Control) and HFC (High Fan Control) that are controlled by the ECM or Engine Control Module, based on the reading from the coolant sensor. If the LFC relay or the fan motor low speed circuit is kaput, the fan will not turn on until engine coolant temp is above ~228°F.

Problem is in city. The guy had a hi-fan switch wired up for quick cool downs after a track racing session. I just disconnected the thing a few weeks ago, but it still does the same thing. So I know thats not it. Now the only other thing I can think of thats been wonky is theplug that were connected to the top of the radiator overflow cap, it was not connected when I bought the car. I reconnected it. Dunno if that makes a difference. Well, I will have that CCRM checked. It is definitely a distinctive problem with the fans I think. Because when he fans DO come on, it cools off. I bought it down in Sacramento when it was like 90. It did the same thing, but was no worse than when its only 70 outside.
