Unhappy no turn over, confused help?

ok cant get the car to turn over been trying to fix it for a couple days, replaced the selonid, didnt fix it, so i bypassed the clutch safety switch to check and still didnt fix, the car powers on everything works it just wont turn over. theres a black looking box under the dash mounted for easy access and says do not drop, does anyone know what this box is for. i guess the previois owner opened it cause its shut with elect. tape, .could this be my problem iv heard its something to do with starting it but idk for sure, but the car would turn over befor my motor swap, also if the ingnition module went out would the car still power on any ideas would be greatly appreciated

First off make sure your connections to your starter and solenoid are tight. Make sure your battery is fully charged, try jumping it for now to see if that will work. If none of that works, I guess get a wiring diagram and see if that little box has anything to do with it. And yes if your module went bad your car would still turn over, you just wouldnt get any spark.

switch in the column could have gone bunk on ya.
dont have a diagram in front of me, but there should be 1 wire going to a prong on the solenoid. thats what they call the "S" wire. Thats from the key to the solenoid. Check for power at that spot with the key in Start position.

test light would work just fine.

if you aren't afraid of sparks, grab a small piece of spare wire layin around somewhere, and touch 1 end of it to that prong, and touch the other end, momentarily, to a ground source, like a strut mount nut. if you have power coming from the key, it will spark when you touch the nut.
