Default hey guys need a little help with a newish car

Ok my girl got a 94 gt yesterday and it has a few problems here and there, as to be expected, but the one semi-major one that needs to be fixed is the shifter in it. (it's an auto) When its in park it's hard as hell to push it in I sometimes have to use two hands and Im a fairly in shape fella so its really hard for her to get it in gear so at the preasent i think she is leaving in neutral with the break on not the best idea all the time. Its fine once its out of park so I'm thinking possibly something with the brake sensor or something? anyone give any advice?

could be the spring mechanism inside the button acting up. you should find a couple small screws on the back of the handle to open it up. take the spring crap out, try to remember how it came out, and work it manually without the button. see if its easier.

when mine was still an auto..i had the same problem..i would be like standing on the brake and it would finally give in...didnt realize at the same time i didnt have brake lights..turns out the wires had corroded and come out of the brake switch on the pedal..fixed the wires n hooked up the switch and brake lights work..altho once i had done this i also was no longer an automatic so i guess i cant guarentee that it would have fixed the shifter problem..but my guess is it would have...its worth a look under the dash tho ..easy to spot..

If it is not key related/Brake pedal related you may want to check the Manual position sensor. It is located under the car on the drivers side of the tranny. It is where the shifter cable goes to. there are alignment slots make sure they are aligned and that the cable isn't getting hung up on anything.

Sounds like a brake shift interlock problem. Does the car have brake lights, I didnt see whether or not your specified that.

if you have shift-interlock on your 94 it may be a bad release selonoid or brake light switch down on the pedal
