1991 5.0 LX problems??

hey guys on saturday my car began to run a lil funny. the exhaust has been smelling really smoggy lately (no cats) I first thought it was running rich, so I pulled a plug to check to see if it was fouled... the plug was fine, a lil worn, but I cracked the insulator, so I ran out (buddy drove me to the store) and got a new one, gapped it and put it in,

the car has stalled on me twice in the past couple of days... she has been running fine since the fuel filter change a few weeks ago.

I just got back to school on wednesday, which is at a much lower elevation than the poconos, but I doubt that would have anyting to do with it...

she isnt guzzling gas down, no smoke, just the smell, and the occasional stalling...

this weekend I plan on doing the rest of the plugs as due to band camp I am extremely busy, but luckily dont need the car...

would it be a dirty maf or IAC or the EGR?

any help would be great...

you need to narrow it down to a stall due to spark or fuel loss could be a tfi, or stator issue:)

thanks, I'll have to check it out.

I have champion plugs on it, and Taylor Spiro Pro wires, I'll have to check the voltage all around, the TFI like you said etc may order new wires while I am at it, I'll just get a new set of the spiro pros, I like the neon green wires under the hood lol, sorta grew on me...

stator? did you mean starter? I'm not all that great with electronic stuff etc. but how would the starter cause the problem? the car starts up nicely. I dont understand.

would running some injector cleaner through the car be a good idea? never did it to a car that I have owned. (my old car had a 2.8L v6 with a 2bbl carb)

thanks again on pointing me in the right direction.

once I get my Tuition reimbursement, I'm throwing a Centerforce Dual Friction in there btw ;-)

The stator is an electrical piece inside the distributor, if i am not mistaken....

thanks, I'll have to check up on that, look through my hanes manual or the interwebs.

I got new plugs yesterday, just need to gap em and find time to get em in... the pass side ones look like fun to get to... heh....
