Default Stock Tach Doesn't work

I converted to carb. I know which wire goes to the -side of the coil but the tach still doesn't work.

I follwed jason fletchers write up and the dark green/yellow wire is supposed to run the stock tach.

When I connect this wire noting happens. Is there another connection Im missing?

I know theres guys on here who have done the swap before.

on my 92 the wire color is tan with a yellow stripe..no sure if the colors change throughout the years , you need a wiring diagram for your year and see if your on the correct wire the website may be wrong on the color wire

I do have that color wire. But it doesn't do anything. When I am turning the car over the tach goes the opposite way until it starts. I could always put in a aftermarket tach but I don't want the big clock looking thing mounted on my dash.

According to my manual it should be the green/yellow wire. I think up until 91 they were all the same.

okay, just wanted to make sure it was not a 4cyl one, if you had a diagram of the cluster you could tap in right back there, but that's more work

I thought about that too. I have a Haynes manual. The diagram is ok but not the greatest. In theory I should just be able to tap into the green/yellow wire on back of tach and run it to the coil. Correct?

yes as long as you are tapping into the correct wire , when all else fails I have pulled cluster and traced the grid on the back of the cluster up to the tach leads
