ok guys, here is the deal. i have an 84' vert that has everything converted to it from an SVO. the front end, complete suspension(its now 5 lug), and interior parts. my problem is that i it has a pretty hefty built 302 in it that i am having overheating issues with. i have redone the head gaskets twice. i was told that it was a 347 stroker but im not certain that is. it doesn't perform like it. it gets hot as soon as i start it up, the cooling system is building up preasure some how and blowing the coolant out of the overflow jug. i did blow a head gasket thats the reason i tore it down the first time, but it never overheated on me. im stumped on what i should i should do. i have changed the t-stat, changed radiator, water pump, intake gaskets. i need some ideas on what else i need to check. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. if i can figure it out my plan is to build a 393 stroker. i was told that my block is more than likely cracked. i took the heads in both times to have checked. what is the likely hood of the block cracking?

is the radiator cap new?? also did you perform a block test , they sell such kits at parts store and can test for cumbustion gases in cooling system which will confirm such an issue:)

yes the cap is new also, and no i havn't checked for combustion gasses in the cooling system. didn't know you could do that. thanks.

yup what you do once you buy the kit from your local parts store, lower level in radiator so coolant doesn't contaminate test flask that will be filled with solution and you place it over radiator opening and a siringe type bulb you place on top and squeeze it so it draws air from inside the radiator past fluid and if gases are present fluid will change color, usually to a yellow / greenish color:)
