347 or 351???

a 351 with the same stuff as a 347, should make more hp...more cubes, more air, more power, more stroke sucking air...
anyways, the 351 in stock form isnt bad at all. in order to spin more stroke and bore higher in the rpms, rotating weight needs to less, thats why a diesel couldnt spin to 10k rpms, you cant control that much weight that fast without something giving way.
351, stock, plus a turbo or 2 = alot of fun, ask r.barn, he knows. his might have heads or something...

The 347 is faster, with the same top-end.
Although not exactly what one is looking for, I have had a 3.00" crank and a stock 3.50" (351) crank in each hand at the same time. Pretty considerable difference, which takes more work to spin.
Rotating weight is not the reason why a diesel spins in lower RPM's.

I'm to assume you are using a FOX body?
The problem is that a FOX body with a 302 has 54-57% of the wieght on the front end.
A 351 is about 80-90 pounds heavier than a 302 and you don't want more wieght on the front end, not to mention expensive headers either......

well i dont even have a stang yet... i got rid of my 3000gt a while back cuz im sick of the rice burner craze and ive matured a lot lol but when i get a stang im looking to get a fox or 94-98... but i am going carburated when i build my motor up so when im looking for a stang it wont matter if its a gt or not other than the k member right? since i will be ripping out the comp and all the electrical crap that goes along with it...

If you have a 5.0 in there already it will an easier swap for the 347 than the 351 which you will need to buy items to make it work in your car. There is no replacement for displacement with said if you have the funds to make it happen and all the parts then go the 351 route. If you are going to put a freshened up 351 in there then go with the 347 it will give you more to enjoy. If you stroke the hell out of the 351 then get it as will give you the most bang for your buck. Ok I think that I contradicted myself enough on this!!

basically it comes down to... only build the 351w if you are going to stroke the crap out of it.
building a 351CID motor over a 347CID ... build for build (same top end components) is a waste b/c the 347 would make more power
