Default Mustang won't start

I have an 88 GT. Other than a crane fireball ignition and a rear-mounted battery, the entire starting system is stock. I thought it was just a dead battery because the car just clicks when I try to start it. But when I go to jump the car it doesn't even bog the other car down when I attach the jumper cables and all it will do is click even after the cars have been hooked up for several minutes. I am using good jumper cables so that shouldn't be a problem. I also tried jumping the car from under the hood by hooking to the cables coming directly from the starter but it caused a huge spark from under the car (near the starter) and I lost all power. Any advice please??? Thanks.

i would start by making sure that the block is grounded to the frame properly because if the starter has no ground it will not turn over.

wear did you try to jump it from the starter or the selonoid, if the selonoid check the connections on the starter might be why its sparking also all of your grounds

The cable from the starter to the ecu looked ok. Would that also cause the jumper car to not bog down when connected?

I tried to jump it from the ecu, where the cables come in from the trunk and go to the starter and ignition module.

The starter is stock and I have no clue how old it is? Could a bad starter cause this to happen?

New 800A battery in the car. It has been run down once but is only 1 month old.
