Default 302 flat tappet vs. 302 roller ?...... 400hp build up

i have two short blocks.

1. 73 302 (currently in mustang)
2. 88 302 roller out of a gt.

the build-up will consist of the following.

650 cfm carb
edelbrock dual plane air gap IM
TFS twisted wedge 61cc heads
Hooker long tube headers
pistons ? (88's have forged pistons and rods, should be strong enough?)
comp cam middle of the road XE266HR should yield good mid range power.
new rockers

objective.: 400hp/ flywheel: high 12's low 13's. Street car, obviously

Im leaning towards the roller because ive heard great things while to older 302's seem better for stroking which i have no intentions on doing for this buildup. Id rather have a streetable 302 with great mid range power without compromising idle and etc. Assuming the block pans out mechanically sound. i plan on tearing it down, having magnafluxed, honed, possible decking?

this build is going into my 65 coupe
with 4 speed toploader (long gears)
9" with 3.89's
26.1" tires

thanks in advance for contributors and doubters. love you both.
let me know what you guys think?

BTW: one more thing.. i have long tube headers on the mustang now. will these headers swap clean with the build up or am i going to have fitment problems. (ie spark plugs angle and other clearance issues)

If it is staying NA I would go with a smaller combustion chamber on the heads. 400hp will get you to the low 12's pretty easily. But I would go with a roller. But 400hp NA is a hard number to get to without blowing things up.

go roller block all the way = rev quicker and less friction and no break in for cam required, and personally with the 71 cc heads and small 266 cam will hold you back= won't even be close to 400rwhp, I'd jump up to a comp 270hr or 274hr/? not sure on the numbers and at least go with a 64cc chamber or lower heads, in my 66 I have a 74 302 flat tappet cam with crane fireball 300h cam .500/500 and ported c9oe heads with chevy valves and rpm air gap and 650 carb and lt headers and roller rockers with 3.50 gears and a t-5 conversion and on street tires it ran 13.3 @104 so on slicks 12.90's 13.0's maybe

^^^ahh okay well 61 cc looks a little better , I'd say you'll be close to your goal et wise, I'd still go a little larger on the cam

Does anyone know if my headers will be a clean swap from 70's 302 heads to the TFS tw heads?
