keeping extra sets of Cams to save gas?
will having a bump stick with lower duration save gas as compared to having a higher duration? would it be wise to have several cams depending how you feel that day?? say you want more than 12 MPG and have a cam with a lower duration, and then come race day swap for a higher duration and have better track times? hopefully you guys understand what im saying haha

I'm not picking on you, but it sounds like you've never done a cam swap?. It's not something you'd want to do on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis. You literally have to drain the coolant, pull the radiator, fan, ac, ps, pulleys, water pump, balancer, timing cover, upper & lower intake, pushrods, lifters ect........ In other words, it's quite a bit of work. In general, a lower lift, smaller duration cam will get better fuel economy than a high lift, large duration cam (there are exceptions to this). You'd be better off using a power adder like nitrous if you are concerned about fuel economy. When you go racing, you'll have the nitrous available when you need it.

here lets add it up each time. $15 for intake gaskets, $50 for hyd. flat tappet lifters, $13 for timing cover gaskets, $5 for water pump gaskets, 20$ for coolant, 20$ for an oil change after intake swap, $8 for cam lube, $5 for some rtv, and im sure theres something im forgetting, and cant forget all the time your gunan take to do it.
