Emissions ...HELP!
so i bought a 95 gt ...
it failed the first emissions test for high hc ...limit is 1.2...my car was 2.6
so i added some bg 44k, new plugs and wires, and and oil change...then drove it 100 miles ...it failed the test again at a scorre of 5.0 this time
if it was clogged cats wouldn't it set off the o2 sensor and check engine light?
could it be because the gas tank was about half full a the filler tube for the tank is leaking ?
any help is appreciated
thanks

why do you say run it out of the tank first?

run it through, and when you go back put a full tank of 93 in....im trying to remember why i failed with my s10 i had...but i changed the cat and it pass with flying colors. i think hc was one..

The guy at checker should stick to doing what he was trained to do and that is sell parts not try and fix cars!!...the Bg 44k is an inernal fuel system and cumbustion cleaning agent that'll raise cylinder temps in order to perform it's duty = clean out carbon, trust me run the tank through and put fresh gas in but when a vehicle fails for hc's =hydrocarbons which are unburnt fuel molecules, it can often indicate a vehicle is running rich and also indicate a worn motor, make sure it has a fresh oil change and nocodes exist in the ecm that indicate a malfunction in the fuel management system, a simple koer test will tell you that

ok ill run out the bg 44k and fill it back up..(what about the leaking gas?how does that affect the test?)
and do a koer test...
any other suggestions before i go spend another $25 for emissions

that won't affect tail pipe emissions unless it were leaking all over the place so that the tail pipe monitor were picking up the fuel vapors, mine leaked there too, rust had set in!! had to clean it up and solder the areas that were leaking, now it's good as new
