Thumbs down Just won't run?

Hey guys. I got my engine in and finally got everything hooked back up about a week or 2 ago. I had to replace a few spark plugs. I get spark to every cyl. but it just won't run for more than a few seconds. Before it started to not run for more than a few seconds, I believe I got the timing set to 10*. I think the gas in it might be bad, partially causing my problem though. It has a weird backfire sound also but it's not constant and doesn't do it right away, only after about 10-15 seconds when it would run that long.

I probably look like I'm retarded but I don't care as I'm somewhat new to this stuff lol.

Any idea on what my problem might be? Could the gas cause all of this?

how "old" is the gas about...but you might just have a sensor wire not hooked up.

Not sure. It is at least a year old. I bought the car Nov. of 07 and it had been sitting for a few months before that at least. So I would safe to say a year and some change. I haven't checked the spark plugs but I'm thinking they MIGHT be fouled out. I'm going check saturday. Just tryin to get some ideas before then.

BTW I got a new cap and rotor so that's not it.

drain the tank and fill it up with fresh 93 lol... then go and pull every plug. just change them there cheap. then put a new plug or a good plug in the wire. hold it to the block. check it. or if you have a spark tester. see if it has spark...then go from there... remember...air fuel and spark and all at the right intervals.

Well, why was the engine out? Have you checked to make sure the dizzy was reinstalled properly? Line it up on TDC and see where your marks are.

Check to make sure that the wires are in the correct place from distributor to the spark plugs. Happend to me once when I was working on one of my trucks and the answer came to me when I was sleeping.

Engine was out because it got rebuild. I followed a write up on how to stab it properly but I might have got it off a bit. Wires are in correct order I believe. I need to double check that though I guess.

double check, kinda sounds like timing but have you check your fuel pressure. mine did this and i bled the line though the fuel pressure tester and it fired right up
