Question Stall Converter

Wuz Sup to all my fellow stang heads,
I jus recently swapped my AOD for a C4 tranny & installed a TCI 1000 over stock converter. I'm so in love with this trans & my new shift kit (shiftn' @ 6000 perfectly), but when i take off it's still taking off like the converter is stock, so I thought something was wrong with it, i then took the trans back down & had a converter shop rebuild it but I had the fins machined to stall @ 3000 RPMS. Now it's still doing the same S$it. Friends told me not enough horsepower to turn that stall, T or F? Yes I hate to admit it, but yeah the bottom end is still stock w/stock heads.

My 93 GT: Trick Flow Track Heat, BBK 70mm, BBK CAI, MSD & Coil, BBK Headers w/H-Pipe, Flowmasters w/3" Catbacks, 3.73 gears, E303 cam, C4 Tranny, B&M Hammer Shifter & the saga continues.......

Hold your foot on the brake, hit the gas pedal slowly, when the tires start to spin, record the rpms on the dash, to match with true stall.

Camshaft, timing, etc plays correct stall as well.

yes hp has a direct relationship with converter stall. try tightening up the rear brakes also more holding power will help also 1000 rpm over stock is not much and you are not gone to see a full 1000 rpm with it to get the 2800 rpm stall it sounds like you are looking for you will need more like a 3500 stall with the low hp motor gears and a light car with street tires on it. or a custom built converter. Off the shelf converters are not aways the best. drive it down the road in 3rd and mash the gas does it flash up the 1000 rpm or close to it? if it does there you go.
