What Oil ?

You mainly see it at the race track. Around here a lot of the dirt roundy rounders use it, and quite a few of the drag guys. Well, the ones willing to pay for good oil anyway. From what I've heard Torco is just about the only thing a lot of the offshore guys use. It's good stuff, it's all group IV base oils minimum, and the synthetics are group IV/V base oils. Their additive package is awsome. They keep it a secret for the most part, but it contains zinc/phosphorus additives and moly.
It works great, stays cleaner longer, doesn't break down or burn off as quickly and lubricates really well. Torco, Amsoil and Redline seem to be the top 3 oils. But, none of them are cheap. Most people aren't willing to pay that much for oil, but none of those 3 companies are trying to sell large volumes of oil competitively into the market either.

^^^^^that's good to know it has the zinc/ phosphorus additives in it as well as the moly, cause I have a 83 mustang flat tappet motor on a stand I rebuilt with a performer cam and whenever I have the funds it is going into my bronco II project and I had planned to use BG moa as it has the proper additives for break in for flat tappet cam motors, thanks for the info

Torco also sells a specific break-in oil. And a lot of the dirt circle track guys here that run in hobby stock run flat tappet cams, and none of them using Torco has had a cam failure due to lubrication. Occasionally someone has a cam failure when they just start the engine up and go racing without breaking it in. The guys using Torco usually give it a quick 30 min break in and then run it that night, and will go for a season or 2(provided nothing blows up) without having cam issues. I'd definitely recommend it for flat tappet cams.
