Default airbag light

Today while driving my '92 5.0 the airbag light came on and flashed a few times intermittently. Its never done that before. The car still has the complete airbag system in place.

What could cause that?

you'll need to pull the codes for the air bag system

Do I need a special scanner? My friend has an OBD-1 scanner- will that work?
Or can I do it like pulling check engine codes?

Really Ill just consider pulling the bulb but Im curious to see why its on.

count the number of flashes the light puts out. The longer intervals between the flashes are spaces. Than go here to decode the numbers you get:

yeah...from what I understand the light flashes when there is some sort of problem with the system. Mine has been doing it since I bought it but I've never worried about it...might take a look now and check out that site...

both my 90 gt and my 92 2.3 have been doing that since i bought them. i heard it has something to do with the contacts in the steering wheel giving false readings so the car thinks there is a problem. called my local ford dealer but they are a bunch of retards and wont even start thinking until i hand then $115 to LOOK at the damn car. to hell with dealers and airbags!
