5.0L (1979-1995) Mustang Technical discussions on 5.0 Liter Mustangs within. This does not include the 5.0 from the 2011 Mustang GT. That information is in the 2005-1011 section.

May be a stupid question but.....

Exclamation May be a stupid question but.....

I have an 87 GT that is Carb'ed and I was wondering if i could supercharge it even though it has a carb on it.... there is a guy here where i live selling one pretty cheap and i was thinking about trading him some stuff for it.. this is his listing for it...

polished paxton novi 1000 full kit for 87-93 mustang 5.0. it has the 8 rib pulley setup for 9-10 lbs of boost. the supercharger has approx. 2000 miles on it!

I've never owned a carb'ed car so take it easy on me... haha

would that fit on my car?

you'll need a carb hat and a blow through carb

At a minimum.

Turbo charging a carb is a bit more complex than a fuel injected engine. That set up will HAVE to be tuned on a dyno to be safe. Unless of course you invest in a bunch of jets, power valves, squirters, pump cams and a wide band O2....and spend a lot of time with it. If your not sure what he's talking about, you really need to study up. Not being mean, just honest.

your 650 won't work!! you need what they call a blow through carb whose main body has been modified to work with boosted applications
