I just bought a 1990 LX and it was running perfect all day and last night i went around the block and the idle wouldn't go down past 2000 rpm. I even stopped because i thought it was too cold but nothin. if you know anything about this please let me know what might be the problem!! Thanks guys

+1 and make sure your throttle cables arent binding, I had a friend toast his car because of a frayed cable

I think you guys mean the IAC motor not maf!!.....and what do you mean by to cold?? is the engine temp not getting up to operating temp?? if so it may be stuck in open loop operation if t-stat is stuck open?? try running a koer test and check for codes if none exist, look for vaccum leaks and clean Iac motor

the maf will make it idle funny too

more often than not it is the least likely cause of idle issues but could cause it

you could also try a search for a tread on here about reseting the idle

Thanks guys but it was the IAC we bought a new one and it idles good and normal now thanks again everyone!!!!!
