Exclamation Unusual hole

I found a hole in my oil valley that I never noticed until tonight on the vertical wall by the dizzy that looks like someone took a hammer too. It isn't from the factory I know that. Its a little bit bigger than the diameter of a lifter and isn't uniform in shape. I didn't see any pieces of metal anywhere so I don't think it just broke itself. I know this motor was in a bronco built for the mud so maybe the guy who put the motor together that it was a smart idea to help drain oil better?????? IDK but it kinda freaked me out for a second lol.
I know pics are needed but I can't find my bluetooth device for my phone at the moment. I will try to get pics up tomorrow.

Yea that one up by the dizzy. It looked like someone beat it with a hammer.

The ugly duckling is finally getting rid of its POS low compression 78 heads and is getting the GT40's that I have had sitting around for awhile now. I have ported them out myself and and thinking about porting the intake as well.
This duckling is ready to RUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!!! I am now just waiting on my exhaust valve seals before I can have them completly assmebled
