Starter problems

Hey guys, my friend's 5.0 is having trouble. It's stock electrically. What's happening is the starter motor keeps blowing. We replaced the original one in the car with a stock replacement, started up great. Shut the car off, and the new starter started smoking and failed to function after that. That one was brand new, and the solenoid is brand new. All the wires were hooked up correctly. Any ideas?

Check to make sure all your grounds are tight and nothing is loose through out the electrical leads. Other than that maybe he just got a bad starter when they gave him a new one.

All connections are tight. The new starter worked once, then it went up in smoke exactly the same way the last one did. That leads me to believe there's another problem somewhere, I just don't know where it could be.

i would make sure the power wire is good going to the starter, make sure it doesnt have and bare wire marks and shorting out to the body. and then start tracing wires back to the ingnition module. ALso when you put another starter in "i hope you got a warranty" test the volts going to the starter when you first go to start it, make sure the volts are good and constant and not peaking

We did get a warranty. I'll check the power wire and voltage and get back.
