Default Gears help!

So ive been debating for awhile now about getting 3:73 or 4:10, ive been leaning more towards the 4:10 but wont it be hard to get the tires to hook up off the line? Whether I go with either gear set my speedo and other things will be messed up, i have seen a recalibrator for sale but it is about 90$, is that worth it, or should i just try to do it manually and get it as close as possible?

Hey john, I bought a calibrator on ebay for way less than that, you might want to check ebay first. About gears, like nossy was asking, auto, manual, year and another question that I should ask is this going to be your daily driver and are u going to be driving on the freeways a lot?

People who say you can't get 4.10's to hook are either too lazy to set up the suspension the right way or don't have enough experience with cars to know better. Yes 4.10's are harder to hook if EVERTHING else is left stock but guess what? So are 3.73's. Get some sticky tires and control arms and the car will hook just fine.

Yeah but the 4.10's are HARDER to hook. But he didnt say you CANT get hem to hook. And sticky tires on the street? Cant be a safe daily driven car then.
Get the 3.73's. Thats enough for a street car.

yeah if this is ur daily driver then go 3.73 if u go 4.10 you'll just be "drinking it" even though acceleration will be better...wat it comes down to is if u like spending all ur money at the gas pump or not...but either one ur mileage will go down it all depends on how you drive it!!

Don't know what you have for a motor...but my opinion is that 4.10"s are to low unless you have a big cam and can take use of the upper rpm range to compliment the gears. If you're stock, you'll quickly get into the upper rpm range where a stock motor starts to weaken and you'll have a tendency to be reving outside of your powerband...just my opinion.

Dude you don't want this argument with me, a drag radial such as the BFG is perfectly safe for everday use, sure they wear faster but thats the trade off if you want a faster car, or you could go with the Nitto drag radial and get 15-20k miles from them (gee maybe I did this sort of thing once or twice). Most of you guys don't realize that with the 5 spd trans the rpm differance between 3.73's and 4.10s is about 200rpm at 60 mph, but the torque multiplication is alot better with the 4.10. Do what you want but most people I know of regret the 3.73, unless they go with some sort of power adder
