bought a motor that has a knock..need help?
ok i i just picked up a complete 306 eagle crank forged pistons windsor jr heads rockers the whole 9 for 150 bucks. guy said motor ran mint but had a noise like a rocker noise or a rod. i know my way around motors well but never took a bottom end apart. what should i do to see if the bottem end is in good shape? what should i look for when i disassemble?

ask for more details about the knock.
when it happens, what kind of throttle, etc..
my motor has a bad wristpin that sounds like a wicked crank knock, but you know its a wristpin because it only makes the knock during constant speed.
accel and decel, its gone.

take the motor a part and look for any worn bearings and such. if you don't visable see anything you might want to take the rods and pistons to a shop so they can "shop ping" them. i think thats whats it called. its been a long night of drinking FTW

simply put pull the pan and remove main bearing caps and rod bearing caps and inspect all bearings you need not worry about any preexisting info, a knock is a knock, when it occured or how is a mute point now, what's done is done, so inspect the bearings first and go from there
