Default 94-95 5.0 or 96+ 4.6?

I like the sn-95 style and options but am not sure about which would be the better buy in terms of performance/longevity.

I like the taillights of the 96+ - can they be easily installed on the 94/95 if I were to go with that model?

Which is the better car/engine? I want medium level street performance and good exhaust sound. Longevity is a big deal for me...

There is more potential with the 5.0, and the 96-98 are the lowest on the performance spectrum. The 4.6's sound good, especially with an X-pipe. The 5.0 sounds stale without a cam(IMO). Both motors will last forever if taken care of. My idea, get a 95, add 3:73 gears, and bolt on a Flowmaster cat-back. That should keep you satisfied....until the mod bug hits.

And the 96-98 tails are a direct fit to the 94-95's

I personally wouldn't want a 4.6 unless it was a DOHC or the new 3v motor, the SOHC 4.6s kinda suck without boost and the 96-98 ones are just pathetic. 5.0s are good to about 500hp before needing a new block, the 4.6 blocks can hold good power but i've heard the internals fail sooner.

Is the 4.6 block from the S197 an evolved version of the 96-98 4.6 block?

94-95 5.0 all the way....96 = slow!!!! ....I would not even look at a 2V 96-98 Mustang!

the only 4.6 i'd drive would be a 4Valve.

5.0 gets my vote.
