SD tuner or MAF conversion = only two options for proper fix!!

also by converting to MAF, would this fix the problem of steping on the gas and not having the instantaneous power (there is an rpm lag)?

If done right.....sure. You have an upgrade that is not compatible with your current EEC system, that's the correction you need to concentrate on.
