Yea, its hit or miss

some people have terrible luck with them... others are doing 5k dumps with slicks in a 450rwhp fox. and the tranny holds...

But its true they can and will break under stock power if abused...

personally i have never rebuilt mine, and its handled, missed shifts, gear grinding, power shifting, launchs on drag radials and everything else i forgot to mention... so far so good, but don't want to jynx my self...

to help them last, put in an after market shifter. I have only broke one stock t-5 and it was from over shifting. pushing the shifter to far. the hurst shifter with the stops fixed that problem. 5,500 launches on 26x10 slicks. 11.50's 1/4 and still going strong.

Hurst is def. the way to go on shifters, i have one in my truck which is a 97' S10 and i love it, paid 200 for it and got it from Summit, did the foxbodys come with the Pro 5.0 shifter or was that aftermarket? i heard those were junk too?

After market shifters is a matter of preference...

personally i have felt B&M Pro Rippers, and Pro 5.0 and Tri-ax, im enjoy my stock shifter... i just shortened the arm a bit with a grinder....

I don't see how the shifter could make any difference. In case you were unaware, the t-5's are built w/ internal shifter stops just for that reason.
